As a young one, I thought it extra naughty in "Precious" when Chryssie Hynde yelled 'Fuck Off'.
I have steel wool all over my hands. I took off the gloves because they seemed to smell funny (bad funny). But the smell remained, and I realised it was the stain burninating under the steel wool rubbing. now the smell will stay with me for a spell.
Side A of the tape was Remain in Light in its entirety; the next song, as 'The Overload' was wafting away; was The Pretenders' 'Precious'. loud and brash after all the curious drumming and humming of the Heads.
It sort of woke one up out of one's Talking Heads' fog. Remain in light is one of the greatest albums of all time, I says. Dad made the tape for me. He was a master of Mix Tapes. He could blend Led Zeppelin with Monty Python and Carmen Miranda with massive skills.
First a cup of coffee and then more stain. Must raise the windows a bit.
