I have one page left to read in Franny & Zooey. I know what the page says, I've read the book before. I loved that book as a girl; I remember doing a book report on it in 8th grade. I can even remember what I was wearing the day I did the book report: a red and white striped long sleeved tee shirt and a red mini skirt. It was 1982 or 83.
My copy is ragged- it was my mother's, and has a message written on the back cover in faded blue ink, from a grateful friend of hers.
I know who the fat lady is, and sometimes I do remember to shine my shoes for her. Spring is almost here, and for this we are all grateful.
